A Bariloche fishing weekend from Buenos Aires: how to plan two days in Patagonia

Friday night flight, Saturday on Alicurá, Sunday on Nahuel Huapi or a second day on the trophy water, evening flight home. Two days is enough to come back with fish.

Updated 8 October 2026 · Ivan, guide

Buenos Aires to Bariloche is a two-hour-twenty flight. It is closer than it feels: Friday evening you are still in Palermo, Saturday morning you are on the water. This guide is for people who live in Buenos Aires, or are passing through it, and want a one-day or weekend Patagonia fishing trip without agencies and without fuss.

The weekend plan

WhenWhat
Friday eveningFlight Aeroparque (AEP) → Bariloche (BRC), 2 h 20. The airport is 13 km from the centre, 20–25 minutes by taxi. Night in Bariloche.
SaturdayFull day on Alicurá: pickup at your lodging around 7:30, on the water 9 to 20 (by daylight in winter), shore lunch, back in the evening.
SundayHalf day on Nahuel Huapi (in season, 10–20 minutes from town) or a second day on Alicurá. Free afternoon, evening flight home.

With fewer days, take one full day on Alicurá. With more, add days or, in winter, combine with skiing (see fishing in winter).

The flight

Aerolíneas Argentinas, Flybondi and JetSMART fly Buenos Aires–Bariloche; in high season there are around ten flights a day. Most leave from Aeroparque; some Flybondi and JetSMART flights use Ezeiza (EZE), so check the airport on your ticket. Midweek and outside school holidays is cheapest; Friday to Sunday costs more, but that is what a weekend is. If you are bringing fish back, book a fare with checked baggage.

Documents and the permit

The permit needs a passport or DNI: send me a photo a couple of days ahead and I arrange it in advance. With an Argentine DNI you pay the resident rate, ARS 10,000 a day instead of 50,000, plus 20,000 for trolling; the details and who counts as a resident are in the permit guide. On the water, the permit on your phone and your ID with you.

What to bring

  • A warm jacket and something windproof: it is always colder on the water than in town, even in January.
  • Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • Shoes you do not mind getting wet.
  • Passport or DNI.
  • A cooler bag if you plan to take fish home.

Rods, lures, life jackets, food, water and thermos are in the boat. Spare gloves, hat and rain shell too.

Taking fish home

The Alicurá limit is five rainbows per person per day, so "where do I put all this" is a real question. The fish is cleaned and packed on the spot; in a cooler bag it travels to Buenos Aires in checked baggage without trouble. Confirm the carriage rules with your airline: chilled food in sealed packaging in checked baggage is usually allowed. Where to have it smoked in Bariloche, I will tell you.

What it costs

A day on Alicurá from USD 900 per boat for up to four people; a half day on Nahuel Huapi from USD 600; the "Patagonian weekend", a day on Nahuel Huapi plus a day on Alicurá with permits for both days and all transfers, from USD 1,300 for two. With four, the Alicurá day works out at 225 each. A 50% deposit holds the date, the balance on the day; I take pesos, US dollars and bank transfer. All prices are on the home page.

In Russian, Spanish or English

Half my guests are Russian speakers from Buenos Aires; the other half are Argentines and travellers from everywhere. I tell them all the same thing: my job is not a boat ride, it is that you catch fish. Message me on WhatsApp or Telegram: I answer the same day.

In short

Is one day enough?

Yes: a morning flight, a day on Alicurá and an evening flight back is possible, but rushed. Better to arrive the evening before: then on Saturday you are on the water at nine.

Do I need experience?

No. Half my guests have never held a rod. Trolling is the gentlest way in: the gear works behind the boat, I watch the depth, and you pick up the rod when it goes off.

Can I bring kids?

Yes, best as a half day on Nahuel Huapi: close and calm. I carry child-size life jackets, and under 12 the permit is free.

Checked on 8 October 2026. Flight schedules change by season, check with the airlines; the 2026/27 permit tariff is published in October.
